Job Description:

The Director of Pega Engineering will oversee a portfolio of Pega Platform initiatives. We seek an innovative individual to lead our team in developing and implementing cutting-edge case management solutions using the Pega Platform.

As a senior technical and strategic individual contributor you will leverage your expertise in leading large enterprise initiatives to set design, develop, implement, and maintain an Enterprise Case Management (ECM) platform for workflow and case management solutions across Sun Life's various lines of business and our corporate operations as they utilize the common enterprise solution. This position will report to the AVP of Intelligent Business Automation Technologies.

What will you do?

  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle for Pega case management projects, from conception to deployment and maintenance.
  • Lead and mentor Pega engineers in designing and implementing complex case management solutions.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior level technical and business teams and communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Collaborate with architecture team to create and maintain standards for the overall architectural vision that emphasizes a reuse strategy
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines for Pega case management implementations.
  • Ensure the quality, performance, and scalability of Pega case management applications through rigorous testing and optimization.
  • Stay current with the latest Pega platform updates, case management trends, and industry best practices.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the capabilities of the Pega Platform and Pega Strategic Applications and deliver these capabilities to maximize speed & efficiency.
  • Improve operational efficiencies through best use and implementation of industry-leading case management capabilities and increased automation through chatbots, robotics, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

What will you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of experience with Pega Case Management software engineering.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in Technology and or Operations
  • Extensive experience in case management methodologies and implementations.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, problem analysis and trouble shooting skills
  • Experience with transformation strategy, approach, and planning.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and team building skills
  • Strong organizational, multi tasking and time management skills
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
  • Experience encouraging team members to create a rewarding working environment in which they are driven and motivated to have a real impact within their respected product teams.
  • Experience creating an environment of learning and growth, continuous improvement, and team building
  • Software design knowledge and practice with application, data, security and infrastructure experience is desirable
  • A mindset of a test and learn attitude, a bias for action, a passion to innovate and a willingness to learn
  • Certified Pega System Architect (LSA) certification, preferred

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
