The Building Automation System (BAS) Administrator is responsible for the administration, operation, maintenance, and optimization of building automation and control systems across the organization’s facilities. This role ensures the reliable performance of systems managing HVAC, lighting, energy management, security, and other integrated building technologies. The BAS Administrator oversees user access, system configurations, backups, software updates, network integration, and troubleshooting, while collaborating closely with facilities, IT, and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include monitoring system performance, implementing enhancements, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity and organizational standards. The BAS Administrator also plays a pivotal role in the development of technical specifications for new projects, system upgrades, and integration of new technologies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational requirements. The role supports capital and maintenance projects by providing detailed technical guidance and documentation. When required, the BAS Administrator performs field service repairs and system troubleshooting to resolve performance or communication issues and ensure the continuous operation of critical BAS infrastructure.
By proactively managing BAS infrastructure and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, the BAS Administrator helps maximize operational efficiency, sustainability, occupant comfort, and building safety.

You are a detail-oriented, tech-savvy professional with a passion for smart building technologies and system optimization. You bring a strong foundation in building automation systems—whether it’s Niagara, BACnet, Modbus, or other leading platforms—and you’re equally comfortable navigating both the operational and IT aspects of these systems.
You have experience administering and troubleshooting BAS networks, implementing software updates, managing user access, and ensuring data integrity through regular backups and cybersecurity best practices. Beyond daily operations, you excel at translating complex technical requirements into clear, actionable specifications for system upgrades, integrations, and new installations.
You are a proactive problem solver who thrives in a collaborative environment, working seamlessly with facilities, IT, vendors, and project teams. Your analytical mindset allows you to spot inefficiencies and identify opportunities for system enhancements that improve energy efficiency, comfort, and safety.

Associate's Degree in computer science, information technology or directly related field and four years of related technology support experience
