Job Description
Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.
This position may serve as the first point of contact in representing Central VA Community College Police Department. This position serves the public, visitors, faculty/staff and students by providing information and assistance in a positive, professional and punctual manner, as the receptionist and communications operator for CVCC’s Department of Public Safety. This position answers routine and emergency calls for service and provides clerical support to department staff. This position is deemed essential and may be required to perform during or for some special or planned events and/or for unplanned incidents.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Requires the ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information. Proficiency in the use of two—way radios and telecommunications equipment, strong communication and organizational skills, excellent skill using various PC software and systems, including MS Office, alert/mass notification, Virginian Criminal Information Network system(s) and surveillance monitoring programs. The ability to work with a large and diverse campus population, and with local, state public safety and other governmental officials. Strong interpersonal and the ability to effectively communicate both orally and with written material.
