Job Description

Objective of the Job:

Provides general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Ensure Safety, Environmental, Quality requirements and “where applicable” ResponsibleSteel requirements are followed.

2) Prepares the proposed check run including exceptions to the run for early or late payments, special requests, etc. 3) Maintains control of blank checks.

4) Executes the check run and prepares and sends the “positive pay” file to the Bank.

5) Assists in the preparation for (stuffing, folding, etc.) mailing of the checks.

6) Reconciles AP trade accounts.

7) Handles irate supplier calls, responds to past due inquiries, and identifies missing invoices.

8) Responds to inquiries and performs research to answer questions.

9) Calculates certain accruals and uses judgement to make sure the accruals comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

10) Processes invoices.

11) Coordinates with other departments for missing invoices, accruals, or other errors in the accounts payable system.

12) Reconciles bank accounts and ensures all banking transactions are processed accurately.

13) Assists with special projects.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

1) Accounting degree or in the process of obtaining one. Alternatively, experience that could substitute for a degree. 2) Familiarity with computer systems and a willingness to learn how to use the Company’s systems.

3) Proficiency with Excel, Word, and other applications.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

This is largely a sedentary role: however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
