Job Description

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications is looking for Temporary Technical Support/Distribution. This role involves ensuring the seamless functioning of areas such as the equipment distribution, labs, editing suites, and other departments as needed. The Temporary Technical Support/Distribution will play a key role in supporting students, faculty and staff in a diverse range of settings. This position is ideal for dynamic individuals capable of navigating diverse responsibilities and departments. Successful candidates will significantly contribute to enhancing the learning and operational environment at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, offering invaluable support across the institution.

Skills and Knowledge

PLEASE NOTE: Interested candidates should note in their cover letter which of the knowledge areas below they possess. Candidates do not need to be familiar with all areas in order to be considered.

  • Knowledge of broadcasting equipment and editing suites.
  • Familiarity with Connect2, an equipment booking and management system used for organizing and tracking equipment check-outs and returns.
  • Proficiency in multimedia production software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer.
  • Experience with audio-visual equipment, including cameras, microphones, and lighting setups.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Newhouse policies and procedures for daily, opening, and closing operations of creative facilities.
  • Collaborate with and potentially train student technical staff.
  • Assist in coordinating inventory audits and equipment reviews to ensure all equipment is accounted for and in good working condition.
  • Assist in development of a set of standards of operational excellence as it relates to equipment/facility cleanliness and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Identify and address any issues of concern or areas for improvement in operations or equipment condition.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and quality customer service at all times.
  • Facilitate smooth operations in various departments, adhering to specific policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight and elevate work standards across multiple areas, including the equipment distribution, labs, editing suites, and other departments as needed.
  • Assist in developing and conducting training sessions tailored to the needs of each department.
  • Collaborate with different departments to manage inventory and maintain facilities in line with health and safety standards.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues, ensuring operational excellence across departments.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism and customer service in all interactions.
