Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience with one or more optical technologies like long-haul Dense Wave-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems or submarine systems.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with network equipment manufacturer or network operator in engineering or design role.
  • Experience with planning and designing networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and identify technologies for expanding Google’s terrestrial and subsea network in a cost-efficient and streamlined manner.
  • Engage with external vendors and internal teams to operationalize stable platforms.
  • Lead efforts to anticipate technology trends and collaborate with vendors to develop technology solutions.
  • Work with network design, deployment, and operations teams to deliver performancen and reliable platforms and optical designs.
  • Develop tools and processes for automation of network design, management and operations.
