Machine Operator (Extrusion)

Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for an Extrusion Machine Operator to be based out of Fort Mill, SC. This person will set up and operate an extrusion machine according to established procedures, guidelines, and customer requirements. The operator possesses a moderate to advanced understanding of general aspects of the job. Will report to the Manufacturing Shift Lead.

What you’ll do:

  • Measure the dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Adjust controls to meet specified measurements and diameters. Record hourly pipe readings such as weights, wall thickness, diameter, and length. Reject products not meeting specifications.
  • Ensure production materials are available
  • Operate and observe machinery during production and
  • Identify acceptable or unacceptable product quality to customer requirements and quality standards
  • Collaborate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers to achieve productivity and site goals
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions immediately

What you’ll bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience as an Extrusion Machine Operator and or Extrusion mechanical skill set experience.
  • Knowledge of steel or manufacturing processes is preferred.
  • Previous experience using Tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and basic math knowledge for quick and accurate counting and calculations including Excel.
  • In charge of updating the Hour-by hour boards and training Material Handlers to do so.
  • LOTO principles
  • Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted

Within 3 months, you’ll bring:

  • Complete any required training
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Be well-versed in Atkore’s Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $23.50 Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
