College/Department Overview:

The College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) is a diverse unit which offers 20 undergraduate and 30 graduate majors. CEPS is home to Oklahoma’s first teacher preparation academy and includes seven academic departments: Adult Education and Safety Sciences; Curriculum and Instruction; Donna Nigh Department of Advanced Professional and Special Services; Educational Sciences, Foundations and Research; Human Environmental Sciences; Dr. Virginia Peters Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies and Psychology.

Position Overview: Lecturer provides quality learning experience for students. Lecturer faculty member performs instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the lecturer faculty member to the student is one of the teacher and facilitator of learning. Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participate in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions: Area of expertise in public health. Ability to teach online. Possesses excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. The successful candidate will be expected to teach public health classes, and core class Healthy Life Skills.

Experience Required:

Teaching and departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned master’s degree awarded by a regionally accredited or international recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Experienced Preferred:

Hire education teaching experience in public health is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
