What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Work Control Planner 1 or 2 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

Work Control Planner 1 ($64,700-$101,400): You will need to be able to or have the ability to prepare and develop detailed step-by-step work instructions for equipment and/or system corrective and/or preventative maintenance for nuclear and non-nuclear programmtic equipment in facilities in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. As such, you will identify required labor, material, and equipment needed, environmental issues, work hazards; control measures such as isolation, containment or de-energizing of various equipment. Need to state requirements for working with waste operations in NPI and programmatic operations group personnel.

Work Control Planner 2 ($78,700-$125,100): In addition to the lower level, you will perform various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but no limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training. Prepares, reviews, and issues modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations. Tracks and expedites established priority of work packages. Assists in preparing and/or reviews efficient and specific instruction for isolation, containment or de-energizing various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Ability to conduct functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, tracking, retrieval and review of work packages.
• Ability to understand and interpret various mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
• Ability to understand work control, maintenance and/or materials management and understanding of work control and related policies, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
• Intermediate computer skills (such as typing, spreadsheets, reports and use of Microsoft Word and Excel).
• Knowledge and or experience in identifying environmental issues; and work hazards and controls such as the isolation, containment or de-energizing of various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.
• Working knowledge in identifying required labor, material, and equipment are needed to be successful in completing given work activities.

Additional Job Requirements for higher level title: In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

• Ability to fully understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
• Experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting work control and planning.
• Knowledge of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.
• Knowledge of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.
• Skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.
• Skill to conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Work Control Planner 1 Education/Experience: Position requires 2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Work Control Planner 2 Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

DOE 426.2: Requires 1 year of job related experience.

Desired Qualifications:

• In-depth understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.
• Working experience and/or knowledge with Asset Suites.
• Active Q clearance.
• Current HRP Certification
• Knowledge of facility and/or utility related equipment.

Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

• Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.

426.2: This position is subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities, which establishes entry-level requirements to ensure candidates selected for specific positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.
