BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Description

Pavarini McGovern, part of the STO Building Group, is looking to hire a Business Development Manager in South Florida.

Purpose

Provide support for the business development efforts and develop new business for the company through lead generation, prospecting, networking, and business partner relationship management. Assist with the implementation of the sales and business development action plan to fulfill the growth and revenue goals of the company in specified geographic areas and market segments to ensure sustainable growth. Leads the development of proposals, as assigned, in response to customer request for proposals. Attends social activities and trade shows to develop customer relationships and identify potential opportunities. Support the overall retention of clients by serving as a client relationship manager. Support the overall marketing effort for RC Andersen. Contribute to company’s culture, mission and values through thought leadership and actions.

Representative Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with clients who represent new work for the region and emerging market segments. Initiate and maintain positive working relationships with clients, architectural/engineering contacts, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and other project team members. Maintain effective working relationships within the various departments of the Company.
  • Identifies prospective customers by studying business directories, consulting business associates, and observing business articles in journals and periodicals. Research customer needs and develop application of products and services in an effective manner by:
    1. determining customer specific strategies and goals for providing company construction services,
    2. obtaining & coordinating data & information relating to the potential project,
    3. following up on sales leads,
    4. maintaining up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that effect target markets
    5. establishing & maintaining industry contacts that lead to sales
  • Assist with implementing the sales and business development action plan in order to fulfill the growth and revenue goals of the company in the region and emerging market segments.
  • Provide quality sales effort to ensure customer service and financial metrics established in the annual action plan are achieved.
  • Participate in industry associations, events and networking opportunities to expand RC Andersen’s exposure in the market. Attend various training and personal development programs to enhance general knowledge and effectiveness in sales and business development.
  • Assist in the RFP process for the region. Provide accurate and timely data to support the team’s efforts to prepare a variety of negotiated and competitive bid responses. Work with the team to develop new documents specific to market needs and to recommend and develop more sophisticated deliverables and presentation materials.
  • Manage and maintain the RC Andersen business development leads process through accurate and timely reporting and documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining a CRM database. Maintain current and accurate data for marketing department database.
  • Assist with special projects as directed. Provide general support for the sales/business development and marketing initiatives. Assist the group with the proactive and timely completion of assignments.
  • Provide training, coaching and mentoring to direct reports.
  • Contribute to company’s culture, mission and values through thought leadership and actions.
  • Support marketing in the development and implementation of the corporate communications plan. Facilitates the development and distribution of marketing materials including brochures, qualifications and proposals.

  • Delivers presentations to prospective clients.
  • Attends social activities and trade shows to develop customer relationships and identify potential opportunities.
  • Leads the development of proposals in response to customer request for proposals.
    1. Takes an active role in the completion of proposals to ensure that they are completed ahead of time and to the quality standards demanded by company.
    2. Takes responsibility for developing and writing the text contained in the proposal, or obtains the written text from the appropriate executives and assures that it clearly communicates companies capabilities and benefits to each customer. Text is to be tailored to each customer’s needs, personality and recognizes the relationship with company.
    3. Delivers presentations designed to effectively present companies capabilities and win new projects.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • College degree in marketing, business and/or communications preferred or equivalent work experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of construction industry, building practices and local/regional commercial construction market.
  • Advanced relationship management and negotiating skills.
  • Understanding of sales and business development processes.
  • Working knowledge of company and departmental software programs, Microsoft Office, Salesforce.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in sales, marketing and business development
  • 2-4 years’ experience in the construction industry.

Compensation

In addition to base pay, eligible for discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
