Molex is growing in the Optical Solutions Business Unit and is looking for a growth-minded person to join our team as a Vice President of Research and Development. The Vice President of Research and Development (R&D) will lead the Optical Solutions business unit's innovation and product development efforts. This role is responsible for driving the strategic vision, managing the development methodologies, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality optical solutions to the market.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and execute the overall technology vision and strategy for the Optical Solutions business.
  • Lead and mentor a global high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, and improve our speed of execution.
  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of new optical products, ensuring they meet market needs and quality standards.
  • Engage and collaborate with industry vendors & partners to develop eco-system partnerships which drive broad customer adoption or new connector technologies.
  • Implement a comprehensive strategy related to IP protection for current and future product development.
  • Plan and manage the R&D budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to support research projects.
  • Work closely with other departments, including product management, sales, and manufacturing, to align R&D efforts with business goals.
  • Ensure all R&D activities comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Drive innovation and adoption of advanced technologies to accelerate the speed of innovation. This may include, but should not be limited to additive manufacturing, digital twins, machine learning/AI, and vision systems.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Business, Physics, Optics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in R&D leadership roles within a technology industry.
  • Experience in a global role
  • Strong leadership, project management, and strategic planning skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Telecom, Datacom, and Medical Industry Experience
  • Fiber Optics experience
  • Experience using large data sets for process and product improvement
  • Chinese (Mandarin) or Taiwanese language skills
  • Deep understanding of optical technology, including fiber optics, optoelectronics, connectors, and wavelength management.

For this role, we anticipate paying $230,000 - $280,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
