Purpose:

As an Area Lead Planner, you will take a leadership role in developing and managing schedules for complex, multidiscipline projects that support the energy, chemicals, and resources sectors. You will ensure projects are planned, tracked, and executed with clarity and purpose—helping bridge today’s industrial demands with tomorrow’s sustainability goals. Your expertise will guide planning efforts within a designated project area, ensuring alignment with overarching project timelines, resource strategies, and business outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead planning and scheduling activities for a defined area within major projects, ensuring alignment with project milestones, budgets, and objectives.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain integrated project schedules, incorporating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities as appropriate.
  • Coordinate closely with area managers, discipline leads, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure accurate and realistic planning data.
  • Perform critical path and schedule impact analyses to identify risks, trends, and opportunities that could influence area or project performance.
  • Generate and deliver comprehensive planning reports, dashboards, and presentations to support decision-making and stakeholder engagement.
  • Guide the planning input for progress measurement, earned value analysis, and forecasting efforts.
  • Act as a senior advisor to junior planning staff, providing direction, coaching, and oversight of scheduling deliverables and processes.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of planning systems, tools, and methodologies used across the organization.
  • Ensure planning practices align with Worley’s strategic ambition to deliver sustainable, innovative, and value-driven project solutions.
  • Drive integration of sustainability-related metrics and objectives into schedule development and reporting, where applicable.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

  • Extensive project planning experience within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors, with a strong understanding of multidisciplinary project lifecycles.
  • Proficiency in advanced planning software such as Primavera P6 and related scheduling and project control systems.
  • Solid knowledge of progress measurement systems and earned value methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead area-specific scheduling activities within large-scale, complex projects.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical approach to solving scheduling challenges, with an ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience in supporting sustainability-driven initiatives or projects is a strong asset.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to work with broad objectives and minimal oversight, while proactively contributing to team and organizational success.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • University degree in engineering, project management.

Preferred:

  • A related technical discipline; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
