Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Senior Director, Communication & Public Affairs, based in Titusville, NJ or Horsham, PA.

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Communications and Public Affairs for Neuroscience & Puerto Rico will act as a strategic business partner to the President of

Neuroscience/Can/PR and the Commercial leader of Intra-Cellular Therapies, along with their respective business leadership teams. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, Innovative Medicine, Americas, this role is responsible for building and executing comprehensive strategic external and internal communications plans for Johnson & Johnson's Neuroscience portfolio, and oversee the team doing so in Puerto Rico. The Senior Director will lead a talented team, drive business growth, and align communications strategies with the company's overall enterprise vision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish, lead, and execute communications strategies that advance the objectives of the Neuroscience business unit and Intra-Cellular Therapies, enhancing Johnson & Johnson's reputation through thought leadership, product communication, media relations, issues management, and ongoing employee engagement. Collaborate across Communications, Public Affairs, Global Corporate Affairs, key business leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and oversee strategies that positively influence the external landscape, supporting patient care innovation and enhancing, grown and protecting our Reputation, with the goal of making J&J the most respected and leading Innovative Medicine company, and #1 in Neuroscience.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive integration and product launch communication strategies aligning with business priorities. Lead product communications for key launches in this therapeutic area, ensuring brand consistency and effective messaging for successful market entry and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build an external engagement strategy that develops relationships with key stakeholders to enhance communication efforts and coordinate preparations for product launches. Ensure that all communication aspects are strategically planned and executed to maximize engagement and impact.
  • Manage our Communications & Public Affairs team in Puerto Rico, ensuring the team is executing their strategic communications and public affairs approach in support of business objectives.
  • Partner with our agile teams to on colleague communication efforts designed to engage employees, ensuring alignment with business goals and corporate strategy.
  • Serve as a trusted partner to the President of Neuroscience/Canada/PR and the Commercial leader of Intra-Cellular Therapies, offering strategic communication counsel and developing initiatives that align with business objectives. Serve as an enterprise leader through partnership with various internal teams to maximize business opportunities through communication strategies that drive impact. Foster a culture of excellence and collaboration among the team to benefit integration efforts and product launch success.
  • Serve as a member of the Americas Communications & Public Affairs leadership team, helping to set the strategy and direction of our global function as we build a world class organization.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in public relations/public affairs, with a strong focus on healthcare communications
  • Proven experience managing high-profile company and/or product brands, with a significant emphasis on issues management
  • 5+ years of experience managing large teams, with demonstrated leadership and development capabilities
  • Direct healthcare product/pharmaceutical experience required; experience in Neuroscience is preferred
  • Public affairs and advocacy experience in healthcare is strongly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in crisis and issues management
  • Experience collaborating with investor relations teams and other functional areas essential for success
  • Strong working knowledge of news and social media dynamics
  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, business, communications, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred
