JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator 2 - Academics Performance Analyst supports the Office of Academics by enabling strategic decision-making through data analysis, visualization, and progress monitoring. This role is internally focused, working closely with central Academics divisions to track departmental metrics, monitor implementation of strategic priorities, and generate clear, actionable insights. The Coordinator 2 will build dashboards, analyze perception data, maintain appraisal systems, and create supporting materials for performance management and leadership conversations across the divisions.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Develop systems to monitor division and departmental metrics aligned to the Office of

Academics strategic priorities; ensure accurate, up-to-date documentation of progress

and outcomes across divisions.

2. Serve as a data translator, turning complex findings into user-friendly visuals and

summaries for a non-technical audience. This includes, but is not limited to, building

and maintaining dashboards (e.g., Power Bl, Excel) to visualize progress toward

performance metrics and appraisal milestones.

3. Maintain a centralized and regularly updated “source of truth" for strategic initiatives,

metrics, progress monitoring, and outcomes. Collaborate across divisions to collect,

verify, and align strategic priorities data and ensure consistency of reporting during

Data Dives. Document key processes, tools, and data systems to ensure knowledge

is transferable, sustainable, and accessible to others.

4. Analyze data from perception surveys and staff feedback to identify trends, surface

insights, and inform priorities for reflection, support, and communication across the

Office of Academics.

5. Draft supporting tools and templates to improve performance management routines

and cross-team alignment within the Office of Academics. Create appraisal

conference support materials (e.g., summaries, goal trackers, slide decks) to guide

BOY, MOY, and EOY performance conversations.

6. Maintain appraiser assignments within the Office of Academics and support

employees in accurately entering appraisal assignments and data into the OneSource

system; monitor backend data for accuracy, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with

HR or IT as needed to ensure system integrity.

7. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE

Technical experience with data analysis and visualization, operational systems thinking, and customer service. Well-versed in

Excel and data visualization tools, such as Power Bl, Tableau, and/or Python. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning

platforms for managing employee records, appraisals, or performance documentation.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.

Collaborate and solve problems - works with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers. Regularly assesses and diffuses complex, and escalated customer issues. Takes personal responsibility and accountability for solving systemic customer service problems. Regularly explores alternative and creative solutions to meeting the needs of the customer within HISD's policies and guidelines.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed

guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as

Interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the

department. Supervision received typically consists of providing direction on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities. Compiles and organizes data and figures.

BUDGET AUTHORITY

Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Job is occasionally expected to recommend new solutions to problems and improve existing methods or generate new ideas.

PROBLEM SOLVING

Decisions have moderate impact to the facility/department or division, causing increased satisfaction or dissatisfaction; producing efficiencies or delays; promoting or inhibiting personal intellectual or professional development; and/or contributing to financial gain or expense. Errors may be serious, usually not subject to direct verification or check, causing losses such as improper cost calculations, overpayment or improper utilization of labor, materials, or equipment. Effect usually confined to the organization itself and is short term.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS

Decisions have considerable impact to multiple divisions or the organization causing risks or improvements to relationships, significant efficiencies, or delays in operations, and/or significant financial gains or expenses. Errors are serious and difficult to discover, normally involve decisions not subject to detailed review and will result in excessive costs and/or significant project delays.

COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS

Negotiate and influence - interprets department strategies and services, resolves conflicts, influences outcomes on matters of significance for the division, conducts final negotiations and coordinates approvals/decision making below the executive level. Interactions are typically with customers and Top Management.

CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS

Leads others in the resolution of highly sensitive and confidential issues on behalf of the department. Acts as a trusted advisor and becomes involved in the customer's decision-making process including presenting alternatives and information and applying persuasion and negotiation skills in the resolution of problems. Monitors customer service standards.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.
