Job Summary:

  • As part of the talented Boat Detailer team, you will be responsible for performing detailed cleaning, restoration, and maintenance tasks to enhance the appearance and condition of boats.
  • This role involves working on both the interior and exterior of boats to ensure they meet high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
  • The Boat Detailer must have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively as a team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The essential functions of a boat detailer revolve around cleaning, restoring, and maintaining the appearance and condition of boats.
  • Understanding of materials and finishes used in boats, such as gel coats, fiberglass, and metal components.
  • Ability to use hand, and pneumatic tools, buffer and abrasive sanding tools/supplies. While maintaining cleanliness and detailing of boats on the sales lot.
  • Must always follow all safety and quality standards, including chemical handling standards and PPE.

Required Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with cleaning, polishing, and maintaining boats.
  • Proficiency in using appropriate cleaning agents, tools, and techniques for different surfaces and materials.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure every aspect of the boat is cleaned and maintained to a high standard.
  • Ability to inspect and assess the quality of the detailed work to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to complete detailing tasks within scheduled time frames.
  • Keeping work areas organized and managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to perform high-quality polishing and waxing to restore and maintain the boat's appearance. Skills in removing stains, oxidation, and other blemishes from various surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements could include face respirators, dust masks, gloves, and chemical resistant suits.
  • Must possess the ability to be focused on observing proper operating procedures and safety practices.
  • Ability to use hand, and pneumatic tools, buffer and abrasive sanding tools/supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and detailing of boats on the sales lot.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in handling and application of solvents, hydraulic fluids, oils, lubes, greases, paints, and fuel along with proper disposal
  • Specialized training in marine detailing or related certifications can be beneficial but is not always required.
  • Experience with cleaning and maintaining boat interiors, including upholstery, carpets, and electronics.
  • Familiarity with different types of boats and their specific cleaning and maintenance requirements is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in detailing boats or similar vehicles is highly valued.

Travel Requirements:

  • NA

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in proximity with other team members in fiberglass surroundings.
  • Needed physical requirements, constantly positioning around boats during detailing for 10 hours at a time.
  • Willingness to work in different environments, including outdoor settings, and adapt to varying weather conditions and project requirements.
  • Exposures encountered, such as hazardous materials, loud noise, or extreme heat.
  • Rain can also be a factor, so weather-appropriate clothing is important.
  • Ascending and descending in and out of boats during detailing.
  • Physical effort/moving, such as sedentary - up to 10 pounds; light - up to 20 pounds medium - up to 50 pounds.

Overall, the job combines manual labor with a need for attention to detail and safety awareness. If you enjoy working with your hands and don’t mind varying weather conditions, it can be a fulfilling role.

The anticipated pay for this position is $18.00, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location.
