Position Overview
Reporting to the Student Success Supervisor, the Student Success Advisor is responsible for ensuring students receive outstanding support throughout their time in the Foundation Program. This includes providing high-quality advising, academic guidance, developing and delivering social and co-curricular programming, coordinating well-being and community-building initiatives, and contributing to the day-to-day operations that foster student engagement, belonging, and academic success.
The Advisor will be hands-on and involved across all aspects of the student experience. A strong emphasis will be placed on proactively creating opportunities for students to engage outside the classroom, through social events, workshops, community service, and peer support initiatives.
We welcome candidates from a wide range of sectors who can demonstrate transferable experience, particularly in social programming, student advising, and intercultural or international student support.

Year One Foundation Program
The University of Alberta’s Foundation Program is an innovative joint educational partnership between Kaplan International Pathways Canada and the University of Alberta, launching in 2025. The University of Alberta is a Top 100 world-ranking institution located in Edmonton, Alberta. This new Foundation Program provides international students who do not meet direct entry requirements with a pathway to full undergraduate admission. Students complete a three-term (one academic year) program that includes ten 3-credit university-level courses counting toward the first complete year of a Bachelor’s degree, alongside non-credit academic and skill-building classes designed to prepare them for long-term success.
Students are University of Alberta students from day one. Kaplan International Pathways supports them through operational management, supplemental instruction, well-being services, and co-curricular programming. Academic instruction is delivered by University faculty.
