In this role, you will oversee the development and implementation of cutting-edge data science platforms, guiding multiple teams to deliver robust solutions. You will collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to design and execute strategies that align with business objectives. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of our platform engineering initiatives.

What you'll do

• Lead Development Initiatives: Spearhead the development of capabilities within various Data Science platforms (e.g., Posit, Dataiku, Databricks) based on customer requirements, including platform upgrades, custom capabilities, and automation scripts
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product teams to design and implement platform integrations that enhance functionality and user experience
• Architect Technical Solutions: Partner with Product Managers and architects to create technical solutions that address business needs, ensuring thorough documentation and knowledge-sharing resources are available
• Enable New Capabilities: Drive the implementation of new features and enhancements in Posit, Dataiku, and Databricks within specified timelines
• Troubleshoot and Optimize: Identify and resolve platform issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to enhance platform stability
• Estimate and Deliver: Assess the effort required for new capabilities and ensure timely delivery within agreed-upon timelines
• Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing and quality assurance to guarantee the reliability and accuracy of platforms
• Provide Technical Support: Offer expert guidance and support to internal stakeholders and implementation teams
• Engage Globally: Foster effective communication and collaboration with a diverse, global team to identify synergies and best practices
• Mentor and Develop Talent: Guide junior team members and promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement

Required skills

• A strong understanding of the Posit, Dataiku or Databricks (AI & ML) ecosystem, Base R & Python
• Expert knowledge of either AWS cloud eco system, including storage services, database services, streaming and messaging services, AI/ML, and cognitive services, scalability services such as EKS
• Knowledge of R/Python programming, data manipulation, content creation (shiny, streamlit, dash, etc.) using the Posit, Dataiku or Databricks tools
• Expertise in installing, configuring, and maintaining Posit (Package Manager, Connect and Workbench) server environments
• Experience and knowledge of different Linux distributions (e.g. RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian)
• Skills to manage user authentication and authorization, implement access controls, and enforce security policies within the Posit environment
• Experience and knowledge of Ansible, an open-source automation tool, to define the tasks required to implement changes in the Posit infrastructure consistently
• Knowledge in scripting languages like Shell scripting, or PowerShell to help automate routine administrative tasks
• Familiarity with Agile principles and experience using JIRA for project management
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field and 3+ years of experience in platform engineering and IT development projects

Nice to have skills

• Knowledge of SLURM
• Knowledge of containerization platforms like Docker
• Knowledge of integrating Posit with other systems and databases (Posit professional drivers, integrating with Artifactory and GitHub)
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation of Data Science platform configurations, procedures, and best practices
