Darigold is looking for an experienced Data Architect – OT Engineer to join our Operations Technology (OT) group. This role involves designing and managing the data infrastructure and solutions that support critical operational systems and business processes. As a Data Architect, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, efficient, and secure data models that drive operational performance, enhance data quality, and enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Salary: $111,496.11- $167,244.16

  • Major Responsibilities:

o Data Architecture Design: Develop and maintain data models, data flows, and system architecture for operational systems. Ensure data structures are optimized for both real-time and batch processing needs.

o Data Integration: Design and implement robust data integration pipelines for integrating data from various sources including sensors, IoT devices, operational applications, and enterprise systems.

o Database Management: Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of databases and storage solutions to meet operational requirements. Ensure high availability, data redundancy, and disaster recovery.

o Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance practices and standards for data quality, security, privacy, and compliance within the OT environment.

o Collaboration: Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams (such as software engineers, analysts, and OT specialists) to define data requirements, solution specifications, and integration points for OT systems.

o Data Modeling: Build and maintain logical and physical data models that reflect business needs, operational processes, and data flow within OT systems.

o Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize the performance of OT data pipelines, databases, and related processes to ensure high performance and scalability.

o Documentation & Best Practices: Create clear and comprehensive documentation for data models, architecture designs, and processes. Promote the adoption of best practices in data management and development.

o Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process and system improvements to enhance data quality, operational efficiency, and overall performance.

o On-Call: Provide after hours and critical incident support, which requires responding to calls within 30-45 minutes.

  • Essential Duties (other duties as assigned):

o Provide first class technical support to the manufacturing enterprise, supporting plant operations and personnel to ensure a safety-first environment that delivers value to our producers and the highest quality products to our customers.

o Understands and has professional experience in manufacturing processes in industrial plants (preferably Food and Beverage), electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.

o Develops, plans, and executes technical solutions including equipment bills of materials, scope of work, estimates, participate in proposal review and provide timely status updates.

o Provide leadership in knowledge transfer and implementation of approved standards and practices for electrical and control systems, including PLC’s, HMI, field devices, and support network implementation by IT department.

  • Selection Criteria

o Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Expert skills and knowledge on Electrical design, data processing, PLC/HMI programming, and instrumentation.

o Ability to establish and maintain strong, effective team relationships with multiple organizational levels across manufacturing sites and corporate.

o Strong written and verbal communication, including documentation standards.

o Ability to consistently meet deadlines and see projects through completion.

o Experience with advanced analytics and machine learning techniques applied to OT data.

o Familiarity with operational technologies such as SCADA, PLCs, and other industrial control systems.

o Experience with data lakes, big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark), and distributed data systems.

o Ability to travel up to 50%.

  • Education, Experience and Certifications:

o Engineering (Electrical, Computer Engineering, Chemical, or Mechanical) B.S. degree, and 5+ years of professional experiences in systems integration, data architecture, database management, or data engineering, with a strong focus on operations technology environments, managing manufacturing process control applications, and ongoing process improvement efforts.

o Professional troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills with electrical and controls systems and associated programming

o Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and data integration techniques, including experience with tools like SQL, Python, Apache Kafka, and others.

o Expert skills in developing PLC and HMI solutions (AllenBradley / FactoryTalk preferable) and specifying hardware and software for controls and automation projects.

o Experience with controls power distribution layouts, panel layouts, hardware specification.

o Knowledge of manufacturing process controls networks, infrastructure, and security systems.

o Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and operational data storage solutions (e.g., time-series databases, NoSQL, and relational databases).

o Familiarity with industrial control systems, IoT, and real-time data processing frameworks.

o Knowledge of data governance, security practices, and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

o Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex data-related problems.

o Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
