Job Description

As Quality Assurance Manager you will be accountable for the effectiveness and efficiency of Quality management systems across Pact's Dairy, Beverage and Caps sites in Victoria as well as Canningvale and Brendale.

As part of the site leadership team, you work closely with Operations Manager to proactively address quality concerns and facilitate solutions that lead to customer satisfaction and reduced plant costs.

Working with an experienced and driven team of quality technicians, your primary focus will be to drive quality initiatives and process through engagement of employees at all levels, acting as the catalyst for change and continual improvement.

Solutions driven, you pride yourself in your ability to critically analyse problems, identifying root cause resulting in risk mitigation.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Coach and support the site Quality Managers/coordinators to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards throughout the manufacturing process and meet customers’ quality requirements.
  • Drive adherence to the QMS and ensure compliance with ISO 22000:2018 and FSSC systems.
  • Lead compliance with FSSC, HACCP plans, GMP, cleaning and hygiene standards and zoning controls.
  • Establish integrated quality policies, procedures, and best quality practices in closure, dairy and beverage sites.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, and industry standards, conduct audits to verify adherence and coordinate with certification bodies and customers.
  • Oversee the evaluation and laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet specified quality standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce defects, and optimize processes.
  • Utilize Quality Management Tools to support, monitor, and manage quality performance and documentation.
  • Contribute and collaborate as a member of the PACT Closure, Dairy and Beverage leadership team, managing technical and quality engagement with customers, vendors, and auditors (external and internal).

Your skills and experience

  • Proven leadership experience in quality assurance in a food manufacturing or packaging or regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of FSSC 22000 certification requirements & understanding of ISO 22000:2018 certification
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred)
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Quality Engineer) preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage external audit processes and non-conformance QA response systems.
  • Visible belief and demonstrated leadership in a Zero Harm culture
  • Ability to remain resilient, calm and composed when under pressure.
  • Ability to engage and influence others.
