The Opportunity

Uphold is seeking a Head of Product, Platform Connectivity to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our platform integration products. This director-level, hybrid role—based in New York City with a required weekly in-office presence— requires a hands-on product leader who can set strategic direction while collaborating closely with engineering to deliver robust, scalable capabilities.

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in API infrastructure and financial platform integration, with demonstrated experience designing, launching, and scaling connectivity products that bridge core banking systems, alternative payment methods, and third-party platforms. Deep knowledge of payment protocols, open banking standards, and real-time settlement mechanisms is essential, along with hands-on experience working with partner APIs, data synchronization, and secure transaction flows across global markets.
  • This role will define and drive the roadmap for how our platform connects to banking APIs, alternative payment methods, and local payment networks, enabling seamless integration for internal teams and external partners alike. Reporting to the VP of Product, the Head of Product will be responsible for defining product strategy, aligning cross-functional teams, and global stakeholders and ensuring the platform meets internal integration needs and responds to dynamic external market requirements —all while maintaining a seamless customer experience.

What you’ll be doing primarily:

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for platform-level connectivity to banking and payments infrastructure.
  • Lead product discovery and delivery of APIs and integrations that enable reliable connectivity to BaaS platforms, payment service providers, and regional banking networks.
  • Define product requirements and partner closely with engineering to ensure timely, high-quality execution.
  • Collaborate with internal product teams to understand integration needs and deliver reusable capabilities.
  • Track market trends and competitor offerings to inform connectivity strategy and roadmap prioritization.
  • Partner with compliance, risk, legal, and security teams to navigate regulatory and operational considerations, particularly in regulated environments.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment and stakeholder communication across a global, distributed team.
  • Operate as both a strategic leader and an individual contributor — defining, writing, and refining product requirements as needed.

Required qualifications:

  • Proven experience leading platform product initiatives, with a focus on building capabilities for internal consumption and external integration.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise SaaS platforms, security services, or developer-focused products.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in regulated industries (e.g. finance, healthcare, or government) and coordinate with compliance and control functions.
  • Experience working with global and distributed teams across time zones.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work asynchronously and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel globally as needed.
  • Fluent in using LLMs and AI to complete tasks
  • Hybrid role:
  • This position is based in our New York office and requires in-person presence weekly.

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience building or integrating with banking APIs, BaaS providers, PSPs, or financial networks.
  • Familiarity with regional payment schemes and infrastructure (e.g. PIX, SEPA, ACH, FedNow).
  • Previous experience in the cryptocurrency or blockchain sector.
  • Familiarity with agile product development practices, roadmapping tools, and developer enablement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of API lifecycle management and internal developer platform (IDP) approaches.
