Accounts Payable Manager-Pittsburgh Paint Company

The Accounts Payable Manager will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and vendor management. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accounts payable processes and best practices. The AP Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the company's financial operations and maintain strong vendor relationships.

This is a hybrid position based in Cranberry Township, PA, and reporting directly to the Director Assistant Controller.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable department, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to facilitate payments to vendors. Implement and maintain efficient accounts payable processes and controls to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for performing accruals and related analysis to post journal entries.
  • Build and develop the accounts payable team, ensuring effective hiring, training, and process optimization to support scalable operations.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide training to team members on accounts payable policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and manage workload distribution within the team.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Monitor vendor performance and compliance with contractual agreements. Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports, providing insights to senior management on payment trends and cash flow.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies, as well as adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Assist in the year-end financial audits and tax reporting related to accounts payable.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the accounts payable function.
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to implement new technologies and systems that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in accounts payable management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of payables experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Products, including Excel, PowerPoint and familiarity with AP software systems.
  • Experience in period-end accounting close processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of process optimization and best practice implementation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
