The RMIT UP Foundation Studies Program consists of courses comparable in standard to an Australian Year 12 curriculum. It is nationally recognised as a program that equips international students with the skills and capabilities to seek entry into higher education programs in Australia. This program is designed to prepare students for a seamless transition into a range of higher education programs. It develops a mix of discipline knowledge, academic English and study skills in a supportive, flexible and learner-centred environment. It aims to assist students to become independent, critical and lifelong learners and to maximise their potential for success in an Australian university context.

About the role

In this position, you will be responsible for teaching one or more Design subjects - Drawing, Studio Investigation and Multimedia

You will be responsible for the teaching delivery of these courses including assessment, monitoring academic progress of students, contributing to the development of the Foundation Studies curriculum and providing an outstanding student experience.

About You

To be successful in this position you will have:

Essential

  • A recognised degree relevant to the course being taught plus:
    • A formal qualification in the delivery of education OR
    • Minimum two years’ relevant teaching experience, including breadth of experience in delivering to students from non-English speaking backgrounds.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering and assessing both in face-to-face and online classes (using a Learning Management System such as Canvas and Microsoft Teams).
  • Substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
  • Capacity to identify learning problems in students, propose and implement effective strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
  • VIT registration or Current Working with Children Clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching other tertiary or secondary school subjects.
  • Experience teaching international students in a tertiary or secondary school setting
  • Not required for non-English units
  • Proven collegiality and the ability to share ideas
  • Knowledge of current pedagogical practices
