Sample Prep/Core Technician

Job Description

The Lab Technician will be part of the Preparation Department, working with client samples to prepare them for analysis in our labs. This position involves various tasks under direct supervision, contributing to the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ringing, sieving (including International Soils), crushing, and splitting under direct supervision.
  • Load and unload drying ovens under supervision.
  • Maintain personal production logs accurately.
  • Conduct general cleaning duties to ensure basic lab cleanliness.
  • Assist with layout duties/tasks as required.
  • Handle compositing, screen metallics, and special handling requests.
  • employees if adjustments are needed.
  • Ensure analytical quality through careful handling of samples.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic alpha/numeric comprehension.
  • Basic English communication skills (written and verbal).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a mineral lab or manual labor in a warm environment.
  • Ability to match numbers accurately.
  • Comfortable working in a hot and dusty environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE and a respirator.
  • Minimum 3 months work experience in a commercial laboratory or sample preparation setting.

Work Environment

The role requires working in an environment that is not temperature controlled, which can be hot and dusty. The position includes physical demands such as standing for long periods, performing repetitive tasks, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work schedule consists of four 10-hour shifts: Wed-Sat 5:30am-4pm or Sun-Wed 5:30am-4pm. There is a potential for this position to become permanent, with opportunities to advance to higher levels or prep tech positions. Samples

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.39 - $18.39/hr.
