Job Description

Our client is in need of a power system engineer. This positions will support all aspects of transmission studies on power flow, voltage stability, transient stability and other power system analyses. The ideal candidate needs to be familiar with PSS/E or TARA. Preference will be given to candidates with Ph.D. or Master degree in Power Systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system analysis for 138 kV and above transmission system, including power flow, voltage stability, transient stability and short circuit analyses.
• Prepare steady state, short circuit and dynamic models
• Support senior engineer in preparing technical reports.
• Will offer technical consultations and oversee the process of new generation
• Interconnection requests throughout the planning cycle.
• Will conduct and review system impact studies, analyzing steady-state load flow and transient stability performance, as well as performing reactive planning, load Interconnection studies, and mitigation planning.
• Use PSS/e and TARA to conduct voltage ride-through and critical clearing time analysis for generator interconnection studies related to upcoming renewable

Essential Skills

• P.Eng Designation
• Studies exp: Interconnection studies; stability analysis; power flow; voltage stability; transient stability; short circuit analysis
• Past exp. writing technical reports
• Must have 6+ years of power systems analysis experience using PSS/E, TSAT or PSLF
• Basic knowledge of substation layout and protection and control

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable
• PSS/E model development and IPLAN and/or Python programming
• Experience with ISO transmission stability analysis

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
