Legal Department Counsel, full-time position within the internal legal department of AmLaw 30 law firm, providing ongoing legal expertise and support to the firm, handling tasks like drafting memoranda and communications, advising management, conducting research, and working collaboratively with practicing attorneys and firm administrative personnel analyzing risks and developing solutions. Some evening and weekend work, and occasional travel, may be required as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Research and Analysis: Conducting in-depth research on legal issues, including case law, statutes, and regulations. Emphasis on legal ethics and professional conduct.
  • Drafting and Review: Preparing and reviewing client and vendor NDA’s, client professional services contracts, financial instruments between firm and client, and other documents as needed.
  • Legal Process Support: Supporting the firm’s duties with respect to responding to non-party subpoenas and issuing legal
  • Compliance: Supporting the firm’s efforts in identifying and complying with relevant laws and regulations at the local, state, federal and international levels.
  • Policy Review and Development: Reviewing and developing policies and procedures applicable to law firm practice.
  • Data Management Risk: Support the firm’s information technology, information governance, innovation, and other groups in addressing risks associated with managing client and firm data.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree.
  • State Bar admission in location of position.
  • 3-5 years of prior legal practice experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Meticulous, detail-oriented approach to work matters.
  • Understanding of the issues germane to operating an AmLaw 30 law firm.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively, to both attorneys and non-attorneys, in writing, speaking, and via audio-visual technologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify legal issues, analyze complex situations, and develop effective solutions.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing abilities.
  • Intellectual curiosity, problem solving attitude, win-win approach.

  • Jacksonville Florida
  • Position fully on-site.
