ASAP supports motivated students to earn an associate degree within three years. The program emphasizes enriched academic, financial and personal support including comprehensive and personalized advisement, career development, tutoring, scholarships, OMNY cards and textbook funding. Reporting to the Senior Financial Aid Advisor, the Financial Aid Coordinator supports financial aid processing, student support and staff training.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview information, other key duties include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Advise students on financial aid eligibility (FAFSA,TAP applications), verification, and satisfactory academic progress (SAP) policy.
  • Guide students in completing, correcting, and renewing FAFSA and TAP applications; assist in resolving application errors.
  • Support the review financial aid documents and verification in compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional regulations.
  • Provide clear, student-friendly communications on award notices, loan options, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Support program outreach efforts for student deadlines, missing documents reminders, and Financial Aid updates
  • Assist with the administration, processing, and reconciliation of the ASAP Tuition Scholarship, textbook assistance, and related financial aid programs.
  • Manage the ASAP Financial Aid inbox, respond to student inquiries and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
  • Facilitate financial aid workshops, orientation sessions, and registration events.
  • Liaise between academic and administrative offices to support student needs.
  • Support staff training and development.
  • Contribute to special projects and other assigned duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

PREFERRED

  • Minimum of one year in a financial aid setting.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Proficiency in Oracle PeopleSoft.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and city financial assistance regulations.
  • Ability to establish and cultivate collaborative working relationships with staff and students.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Coordinates financial aid procedures and activities and provides financial aid information.

  • Schedules workshops, reviews applications, establishes pay cycles, disburses funds and resolves disbursement problems, and records awards, disbursements and returns
  • Coordinates, verifies and resolves problems regarding the disbursement of scholarships and grants by verifying student eligibility, establishing pay cycles and reviewing pay-outs
  • Reconciles accounting and disbursement schedules
  • Provides data for financial aid and donor reports as needed
  • Supports the College's enrollment management efforts by providing financial aid information to prospective students, their families and their high school counselors
  • Serves as liaison between the college and direct loan providers
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

For appointments expected to start on or before 8/31/2025:

Salary range is $51,781 - $62,689, Salary commensurate with education and experience.

CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
