Underwriting Technical Assistant

Company:

Everest Reinsurance Company

Job Category:

Underwriting Operations

Job Description:

Everest Group, Ltd. (Everest), is a leading global reinsurance and insurance provider, operating for nearly 50 years through subsidiaries in North America, Latin America, the UK & Ireland, Continental Europe and Asia Pacific regions. Throughout our history, Everest has maintained its discipline and focuses on creating long-term value through underwriting excellence and strong risk and capital management. Our strengths include extensive product and distribution capabilities, a strong balance sheet, and an innovative culture. Our most critical asset is our people. We offer dynamic training & professional development to our employees. We also offer generous tuition/continuing education reimbursement programs, mentoring opportunities, flexible work arrangements, and Colleague Resource Groups.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Underwriting Technical Assistant to join our team. This position supports our underwriting operations by managing submissions, ensuring accurate data entry, tracking contract status, and working closely with the team on reporting and quality control.

This is a hybrid role with a mandatory in-office requirement of three full days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Log incoming broker submissions and keep submission files updated and organized.
  • Enter accurate data into the underwriting system, including bound documentation and EPI Review/Change processing.
    • Accuracy is key — attention to detail is expected, especially when entering data, reviewing contracts, or finalizing reports. Mistakes can create downstream issues for underwriting and reporting, so double-checking your work is part of the job.
  • Keep submissions moving through the pipeline without waiting on underwriters to prompt action.
  • Generate and maintain reports on in-progress, in-force, and non-renewed contracts.
  • Track financial deadlines and support reporting needs during peak periods.
  • Coordinate and complete peer Quality Reviews, incorporating feedback and ensuring alignment with SOX and internal standards.
  • Follow through on EPI reviews and updates to avoid delays.

Skills & Expectations

  • Proactive and self-directed — stays on top of assigned work without needing to be micromanaged.
  • Good communicator — keeps underwriters and teammates updated and asks questions when needed.
  • Team-oriented — willing to support others, especially during busy periods, and be part of the group, not on the sidelines.
  • Reliable and steady — doesn’t wait until the last minute to rush work or cause backlogs.
  • Engaged — shows up in the office as required, participates in team meetings, town halls, and other important conversations.

Technical Requirements

  • Strong Excel and Word skills (pivot tables, lookups, formatting, etc.).
  • Comfortable using PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and the rest of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to learn Power BI and internal underwriting systems.

For NJ Only: The base salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location.
