Prince William County’s Fire and Rescue System (FRS) is the second largest combination system in Virginia comprised of the Department of Fire and Rescue and eight volunteer fire and rescue departments. These organizations collectively work together to provide high quality and efficient firefighting and emergency medical services to Prince William County.

About This Role:

FRS Logistics seeks motivated individuals with warehousing and logistics experience with experience working in a team setting. Logistics Assistants track and monitor inventory of supplies and parts. This position is responsible for controlling inventory supplies levels, working with vendors to order needed materials, and processing inventory payments.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Obtaining quotes
  • Ordering, issuing, and delivering supplies and products
  • Processing payments/requesting payment approval
  • Providing customer service and controlling inventory

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or G.E.D.

PREFERENCES:

The successful candidate will have:

  • 1+ years of Logistics experience
  • 1+ years of Delivery experience
  • Experience processing inventory payments and working with vendors
  • Fire and Rescue Experience is desirable
  • Experience with time management and a self-starter
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Keen attention to details

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Driver’s License

Background checks, which may include but are not limited to: Criminal History Check, Credit History Check, Education Verification Check, License Verification Check, and/or fingerprinting may be required as posted in the job advertisement.

Fire & Rescue Requirement: Effective October 2012, mandated by the Virginia State Board of Health 12VAC5-31-540, VA EMS Regulations require a criminal background check conducted by the Central Crime Records Exchange and the National Crime Information Center via Virginia State Police; and a driving record transcript from the individual’s state Department of Motor Vehicles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Ability to obtain and safely operate material handling equipment to include forklifts and scissor lifts.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, and dust.

Ability to drive regularly and make deliveries

Work Schedule: 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday

Starting Salary Range: $21.14 - $32.17 per hour
