NeoGenomics is looking for Senor Molecular (NGS) Scientist wants to continue to learn in order to allow our company to grow. This is a Monday – Friday day shift position onsite at a facility in Aliso Viejo, CA.

Position Summary:

As a Senior Scientist you will lead and contribute to the development of clinical diagnostic NGS assays by taking full ownership of projects from initiation, planning, execution and successful delivery. You will reply on your skills and proven track record of successful technology development and demonstrated expertise in Next Generation Sequencing to design diagnostic assay workflows. You may have the opportunity to provide technical direction and oversight to Scientists and other team members. This position will allow you to collaborate across multiple functions including molecular, bioinformatics, engineering and software development.

Responsibilities:

• Independently designs and executes experiments related to diagnostic NGS assay development and validations.
• Collaborates with internal stakeholders across the global R&D team, Quality, Technology Transfer and Operations to drive successful project completion.
• Clearly communicate and present project work through written reports and/or oral presentation.
• Document R&D project activities e.g., feasibility, verification, and validation plans & reports (under Design Control, where appropriate).
• Keep up to date with the latest developments in the field through literature review and attendance at science & technology meetings.
• Adhere to CAP/CLIA and FDA requirements.
• Provides technical leadership, mentors, and directs scientists performing project work.
• Drives aspects of the project management process including initiation, planning, execution, and closure; some projects will have oversight from PMO.

Experience, Education and Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Life Science or M.D. (preferred)
• MS./BS in a Life Science with appropriate level of relevant experience at minimum
• 4+ years related to successful laboratory or technical experience in Molecular Assay Development in Cancer diagnostics required.
• Previous experience with NGS required.
• Previous experience with Design Control required.
• Previous experience with hematologic specimens strongly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of laboratory techniques with excellent laboratory skills, particularly NGS workflows.
• Detail oriented with ability to capture and record complex scientific data accurately and reliably.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment whilst maintaining the quality of project work.
• Ability to solve problems independently and escalate problems appropriately in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication skills including oral presentation and scientific writing.
