CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Data Specialist opening for our client in Texas City, TX.

Location: Texas City, TX

Duration: 2 years

Duties:

Data Management

  • Ownership, development, maintenance, and operation of the Tag Reservation database
  • Ensure compliance with tag naming conventions and process tag reservation service requests
  • Integrate database with Refining data systems (APM, SAP, SI, OpenText, PSPPM, etc.)
  • Coordinate between tag-owning groups (Process Control, Fire Team, Lab, and Relief Systems) to prevent delays
  • Develop, maintain, and operate OpenText metadata loaders for handover and TAR attribute updates
  • Support internal CAD Group with automation and metadata workflows
  • Build and maintain Power Automate workflows and Excel Trackers
  • Perform data mining and validation to support metadata scraping tools

Digital Twin and Cognite Development (Future-Focused)

  • Support planning, development, and ongoing maintenance of the refinery’s digital twin platform
  • Assist in integrating local data sources and asset documentation
  • Collaborate with local SMEs to ensure availability and accuracy of content

Additional Goals/Tasks

  • Drive continuous improvement in tag reservation processes and database
  • Enhance data accessibility for RED, SI, SAP, OpenText, and ePSI
  • Automate routine/repetitive tasks for Engineering and Major Projects
  • Support ArcGIS data integrations and automated workflows using Excel, Access, and APM queries
  • Assist with OpenText and Document Librarian migrations
  • Promote standardization and quality improvements across Refining and Site data

Skills:

  • Proficient in Excel, Access, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Advanced knowledge of formulas, macros, and external data queries
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and data integration
  • Experience with scripting and automation using SQL, PowerShell, VBA, and Power Automate
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a sharp attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Highly adaptable with a passion for learning and collaboration

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years supporting refining or asset-heavy industrial facilities preferred

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Engineering or IT-related degree preferred

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
