POSITION SUMMARY: The Special Events Assistant Manager will plan, organize and oversee special events and holiday events such as Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, September 11th, Veteran’s Day, New Year’s Eve & the Christmas Season.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates & evaluates services and activities for special events through regular conferences with activities, logistics, & F&B leadership teams.
  • Enhance guest experiences in major events at Big Cedar and outlying properties
  • Communicates proactively and works with onsite teams at any Big Cedar property to resolve concerns, keep consistent information and maintain up to date collaboration strategies
  • Responsible for tracking attendance records of events, maintaining revenue & expenses for events, and training staff to run non-F&B activities for events at any Big Cedar property
  • Develop and recommend new activities & events for any Big Cedar property, and will require physical presence at any Big Cedar property as needed
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Degree Required: Associate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Hospitality or Special Events or related field
  • Years of experience: 3-5 years in activities, special events, or hospitality leadership

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:

  • Writing - Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Basic Computer Skills - Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g., personal computers, word processing software, Internet browsers, etc.).
  • Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography, and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Analytical/Critical Thinking - The ability to gather and organize information using a logical and systematic process; recognize patterns and relationships in complex data; examine data to identify implications, problems and draw appropriate conclusions; generate alternative solutions to problems; evaluate strengths, weaknesses and consequences of alternative solutions and approaches to solving problems.
  • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Number Facility - The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
  • Originality - The ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about products, services or situations, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Up to 25% local travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly walks, and does computer work.

Occasionally sits, stands and lifts up to 50 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:

Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
