POSITION: ADJUNCT FIRE SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR - Hall County Dual Enrollment Site

REPORTS TO: Dean of Business, Public Safety and Professional Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Adjunct faculty responsibilities are centered on preparing and teaching classes as assigned:

  • Instructs and supervises students in the Fire Science Technology program;
  • Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives;
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses;
  • Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives;
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area;
  • Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students;
  • Administers and grades class examinations;
  • Maintains records of student grades;
  • Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars, as needed;
  • Meets ALL required deadlines;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have an Associate’s degree in Fire Science Technology or an Associate degree in a closely related field. Pro-Board (NPQ) Fire Instructor II. Pro-Board (NPQ) Evaluator certification required. Three (3) years of work experience in a closely related field required.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials

Knowledge of vocational area of assignment

Skill in presenting subject matter

Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress

Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners

Oral and written communication skills

Knowledge of student information systems

This position is available at the Hall campus. NOTE: Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment that are appointed on a per-academic-term basis.

Minimum qualifications for this position will be determined by the teaching discipline and compliance with appropriate accrediting bodies. Faculty must be credentialed to satisfy all appropriate accrediting bodies for the course assigned
