JOB SUMMARY
Instructional coaches at the school level, are monitored and directed by the Directors within the Teaching and Learning department. School based instructional coaches provide direct support to classroom teachers in schools, so all students meet or exceed academic expectations in the core areas of literacy, numeracy, and writing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide ongoing support for teachers in the implementation of the district curricula.
- Ensure adherence to the District’s Strategic Priorities.
- Implement initiatives to accelerate student achievement and build a positive climate that supports student success.
- Support teachers with a focus on high-asset schools by coaching and modeling high-yield instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with school administrators to establish and monitor high standards of excellence with students, teachers, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Identify qualitative and quantitative data to assess performance and drive goals and decision-making.
- Assist in the collecting and reporting of data to evaluate the instructional program.
- Collaborate with school leaders to analyze data and make decisions based on data .
- Engage school staff in decision-making that impacts student success.
- Utilize the district PLC planning process and framework.
- Identify potential issues and obstacles and proactively take action to create and implement solutions.
- Participate in a team-based process to create positive conditions for high-quality learning and student success.
- Participate in district-based and external professional learning opportunities.
- Provide and/or develop Professional Learning opportunities that align with the comprehensive district improvement plan and school improvement plan.
- Participate in and/or support Leadership Teams.
- Maintain up-to-date records of support provided to schools.
- Monitor the effectiveness of support provided.
- Demonstrates the ability to communicate in more than one language or the willingness to learn to communicate in more than one language at the novice level of proficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains regular attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree (required).
- Experience in raising student achievement, and improving underperforming student achievement.
- Strong curriculum knowledge, including implementation of literacy and mathematics strategies.
- Deep knowledge of literacy and numeracy, as well as experience designing and implementing. successful instruction strategies, including linking technology to learning for English Language Learners, students with special education needs, students identified as gifted and/or talented, and students who are reaching for proficiency.
- Experience facilitating Professional Learning Communities along with exceptional coaching skills.
Licenses or Certifications:
- Kentucky Teaching Certification (required-must hold or be eligible for KY certification).
- Kentucky Supervisor of Instruction Certification or Hold (or be eligible for) a consultant endorsement.
