Job Description

We are seeking a C++/Qt Software Developer to join our Agile development team. You will play a key role in designing and developing application software for embedded electronic products, with a strong focus on user interface development and API integration. A major initiative currently underway is the migration from Qt5 to Qt6, and we’re looking for experienced developers to help lead this transition.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and test new functionality for embedded electronic devices.
  • Write application software in C++ using Qt.
  • Apply best practices and SOLID design principles in your development.
  • Read, maintain, and improve existing factory code.
  • Propose and execute refactoring to enhance code quality and resolve issues reported by QA or customers.
  • Estimate effort for upcoming work to support sprint planning.
  • Participate in and lead code reviews, providing constructive, rationale-based feedback.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve development processes and codebase quality.
  • Share knowledge and mentor peers while continuously learning from others.

Essential Skills

  • Strong experience in C++ and Qt for application and UI development.
  • Experience with embedded development, preferably on Linux.
  • Familiarity with multi-threaded application development, web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, HTTP), and database interaction, especially with SQLite.
  • Ability to identify and explain technical trade-offs.
  • Convert designs into incremental development steps.
  • Conduct and participate in code reviews.
  • Follow and promote best practices in software engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of embedded application C++ development (11 or newer) from a product-based company.
  • Linux development experience.
  • Experience developing graphical user interfaces with QT Framework or similar.
  • Experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) Principles such as SOLID Principles.
  • 5+ years of experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD), ideally using Google Test.
  • Familiarity with the EPUB format and EPUB rendering engines (JavaScript-based).
  • Experience with E Ink displays.
  • Knowledge of GCC, ARM toolchains, and shell scripting.
  • Experience with dependency injection and mocking frameworks.

Work Environment

The position offers a predominantly remote working environment, with the flexibility to come on-site as needed for team meetings, hardware issues, or when necessary to interact directly with the hardware. The team consists of 15 developers split into three teams working together on this specific project. You will work a standard 40-hour week from 9 am to 5 pm, contributing to the development of electronic books (e-readers) and actively participating in discussions to suggest best practices and design principles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $62.00/hr.
