The Systems Engineering Asset Logistics (SEAL) Customer Service Support position plays a key role in providing Tier 1 computer hardware maintenance and troubleshooting support for agency IT technicians on complex issues.

Your key responsibilities will include preparing, shipping and receiving Lease PC equipment, intaking IT-related surplus equipment, inventory equipment, and preparing surplus and End of Lease PCs for the Department of Enterprise Services to pick up.

This position supports the hardware lifecycle for Lease PCs by providing End of Lease Deployment support to remote locations that can take hours to drive to by shipping and receiving devices to the customer.

What to Expect-

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the SEAL Customer Service Support will,

Windows Fleet Management – Windows AutoPilot Provisioning:

  • Provision device with AutoPilot using existing processes and procedures.
  • Perform checklist tasks on device to ensure it is ready for deployment.
  • Update service ticket data using established processes.
  • Coordinate delivery with deploying technician.
  • Identify and report provisioning issues to supervisor.
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of documentation.
  • Partner with team leaders to report and troubleshoot issues as they come up.
  • Assist with the receiving of new devices from outside vendors as they are scheduled for delivery.
  • Ensure devices are enrolled in the AutoPilot system; upload if missing.

Windows Fleet Management – Tier 1 Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and resolve common desktop support requests and issues remotely or over the phone.
  • Assist staff in submitting tickets for field issues.
  • Set up devices and peripherals for staff.
  • Perform activities necessary for the short and long-term resolution of support requests related to hardware upgrades.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining documentation on technical support, business processes, records, and asset management inventories.
  • Manage service tickets from the queue.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues encountered during device deployment, ensuring seamless setup, including network connectivity, baseline application installations, and VPN access.
  • Collaborate with Dell and other vendors to diagnose and resolve hardware issues, including internal troubleshooting to ensure optimal device performance.
  • Conduct needs assessments, integrate acquisition and collaborate with business units, IT associates, and outside vendors to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems required to fulfill business objectives and processes.

Windows Fleet Management – Shipping Devices:

  • Coordinate shipment of leased devices for new hires or End-Of-Life (EOL) system replacements.
  • Follow-up with customers and/or deploying technicians to ensure smooth delivery fulfillment.
  • Track deployments in Azure DevOps.
  • Ensure asset information is updated in Asset Management tracking system for accurate inventory.
  • Dispose of unused materials responsibility.

Windows Fleet Management – Receiving Devices:

  • Verify received devices and equipment are in line with what is expected using current asset management data.
  • Maintain asset detailed records in the asset data warehouse.
  • Perform data sanitization on hardware using standard procedures by sanitizing and/or destroying all storage media devices in accordance with WaTech Enterprise Policy, making sensitive information unusable, inaccessible, and unable to be reconstructed.

IT Surplus Equipment:

  • Schedule intake/drop-off of IT surplus equipment with staff.
  • Update asset management database ownership information.
  • Verify, process and log surplus devices to ensure secure data handling, and coordinate shipment to proper facilities for disposal.
  • Safely transport items using carts or pallet jacks.
  • Prepare equipment to be given to the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) utilizing existing processes.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work Setting, including hazards:

Work environment will be primarily in an office setting. May be required to work in small hard to reach areas and must be able to frequently lift 50 lbs.

Schedule:

Typically, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. A varied schedule may be required, including working Saturday, Sunday, and/or more than 40 hours per week during peak periods, system implementations, maintenance, moves, and outages.

Travel Requirements:

Some travel may be required to remote office and regional locations to resolve shipping issues as they come up.

Tools and Equipment:

Standard Desktop Hardware, Laptops, Tablets, Telecommunications and Networking equipment and Software (CPU, M365, etc.).

Customer Interactions:

Direct customer coordination for shipping and receiving of devices as well as any Tier 1 support related to the shipping and receiving.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in customer service or information technology field of study AND two (2) years of general Information Technology (IT) experience.

Please Note: Closely related qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the required qualifications, our ideal applicant will possess some or all the following:

Pallet Jack Training and Certification.

Knowledge of:

  • Asset management and application support.
  • Asset management database structure.
  • New workstation configuration and testing.
  • Encryption procedures.
  • Windows Endpoint Lifecycle Support.
  • Data Sanitization Processes and Procedures.
  • Washington State Surplus Procedures.

Skill in:

  • Tier 1 support to perform tasks such as installation and configuration, testing and maintenance on computers, software installations and troubleshooting.
  • Proven skills to effectively work with a variety of individuals from diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and engage groups to positive outcomes in difficult discussions.
  • Attention to detail for shipping and receiving of various equipment.

Ability to:

  • Use best practice strategies to assist in maintaining hardware standards and deployment methodologies to ensure WDFW enterprise business needs are met.
  • Follow processes and procedures to support asset management tools.
  • Successfully communicate (verbally and in writing) technical subject matter to non-technical staff.
  • Effectively work with a variety of individuals from diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Utilize an Electronic Pallet Jack.

Insurance Benefits

Retirement and Deferred Compensation

State Employees are members of the Washington Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). New employees have the option of two employer contributed retirement programs. For additional information, check out the Department of Retirement Systems' web site.

Employees also have the ability to participate in the Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). This is a supplemental retirement savings program (similar to an IRA) that allows you control over the amount of pre-tax salary dollars you defer as well as the flexibility to choose between multiple investment options.

Social Security

All state employees are covered by the federal Social Security and Medicare systems. The state and the employee pay an equal amount into the system.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness

If you are employed by a government or not-for-profit organization, and meet the qualifying criteria, you may be eligible to receive student loan forgiveness under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Holidays

Full-time and part-time employees are entitled to paid holidays and one paid personal holiday per calendar year.

Note: Employees who are members of certain Unions may be entitled to additional personal leave day(s), please refer to position specific Collective Bargaining Agreements for more information.

Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday.

Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave.

Sick Leave

Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave.

Sick leave accruals for part-time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.

Vacation (Annual Leave)

Full-time employees accrue vacation leave at the rates specified in WAC 357-31-165(1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Full-time employees who are in pay status for less than 80 nonovertime hours in a month do not earn a monthly accrual of vacation leave.

Part-time employees accrue vacation leave hours in accordance with WAC 357-31-165(1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment.

Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday.

As provided in WAC 357-58-175, an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Vacation leave accrual rates may only be accelerated using the rates established WAC 357-31-165.

Note: Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for exempt employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave.

Military Leave

Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.

Bereavement Leave

Most employees whose family member or household member dies, are entitled to three (3) days of paid bereavement leave. In addition, the employer may approve other available leave types for the purpose of bereavement leave.
