[What you will be working on]

The Consulting Practice within the Government Technology Office of GovTech tackles complex IT challenges and drives system modernisation across government agencies. We combine deep technical expertise with strategic thinking to assess enterprise environments, align stakeholders, and architect scalable solutions delivered through GovTech and industry partnerships.

As a Lead Engineer / Senior Engineer in this practice, you'll shape technical direction, drive architectural excellence, and influence how technology enables public sector transformation.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-wide technical strategy and architecture decisions that impact multiple agencies and national-level systems
• Provide expert consultation on complex technology transformations, from vision and strategy through to implementation
• Drive innovation in solution architecture whilst ensuring alignment with government standards and security requirements
• Shape technical direction for major programmes and guide cross-functional teams towards optimal solutions
• Establish architectural governance frameworks and technical standards that enable scalable, future-proof implementations

Your Impact

• Define reference architectures and patterns that become standards across government systems
• Guide agencies through critical technology decisions and transformations
• Build strong partnerships with technology vendors and shape their strategic roadmaps
• Mentor and develop technical leaders across the organisation

[What we are looking for]

• 15+ years of enterprise technology experience with significant architectural leadership
• Proven track record architecting and delivering large-scale enterprise solutions
• Deep expertise in modern architectural approaches, integration patterns, and technology platforms
• Strong background in technical leadership and stakeholder management at senior levels
• Experience building and leading high-performing technical teams
• Outstanding communication skills with ability to influence C-level stakeholders
