Position PurposeUnder the direction of the Associate Director for Academic Programs and Educational Technologies, the Educational Technologist will provide research and provide support for a suite of technologies that support teaching and learning. The focus of this position is on the pedagogical functions of educational technologies, while also ensuring technically sound decisions. The Educational Technologist will work collaboratively with other members of the Learning Design and Innovation team to further our educational goals and mission for both online and residential programs across the college.

- Three years of professional experience in administering, supporting, and promoting educational technologies in an academic setting
- Experience supporting the common suite of educational technology tools used in higher education, including LMS, media tools, video conferencing, presentation and assessment tools, etc.
- Experience with consulting and educating faculty both 1:1 and in small groups about best practices in using technology for teaching and learning.
- Knowledge and experience with using a variety of large language models – with a critical understanding of how they are trained and optimized.
- Ability to pick up and learn new systems quickly and efficiently, and be able to communicate their findings to other members of the team.
- Excellent to superb problem solving abilities when dealing with troubleshooting a system or critically evaluating new software.
- Excellent writing ability when expressing complex problems to a nontechnical audience.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to take initiative, use creativity.
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Interest in application of ADA, 508 compliance to educational technology tools.
- Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving a diverse community.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and tools.
- Expertise in Generative Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning software and frameworks.
- Experience working within a team to administer and promote technology in a higher education setting.
- Experience supporting educational technology policies and policy development.
- Experience in higher education preferred

Key Accountabilities
DescriptionTechnical Support -
- Designs and delivers training sessions for faculty, staff, and students on the effective use of educational technologies in teaching settings.
- Offers ongoing support and troubleshooting assistance to faculty and students in the use of educational technologies within the classroom.
- Stays abreast of emerging tools and trends in the field to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
- Conducts research on best practices in using technology in education and shares with the broader Dartmouth community.
- Manages virtual meeting logistics, including scheduling, monitoring, and providing technical support for Zoom sessions

DescriptionTraining and Development -
- Creates and maintains a knowledge base for educational technology tools at Dartmouth; both for end-users, and internal documentation.
- Works within a team to provide technical support, consultation, and tool evaluation to members of the Learning Design and Innovation group who are building new online programs.

- Evaluates the safety and effectiveness of technology implementations and makes data-driven recommendations for improvements.
- Participates as a consultant for various committees/campus systems projects with an instructional technology component.
