About the Role

We need an experienced Software Development Engineering Manager who will contribute to our team’s ongoing success and growth. This role offers a unique opportunity to build a new team in Atlanta, which will have a focus on supporting Federal customers.

Your role will involve managing multiple projects with tight deadlines, fostering high-quality enterprise application development, and adopting innovative approaches to technical challenges. You will act not only as a leader but also as a coach and mentor, leading with empathy, inspiring your team, and driving them towards excellence. Your role is pivotal in nurturing a growth mindset, challenging the conventional processes, and driving sustainable success at Workday. Moreover, you will cultivate a workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and fun, ensuring a vibrant, energised, and engaging environment for all team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategize with cross-functional teams to prioritise, plan, and execute top-tier experiences for Workday Learning customers.
  • Lead the development teams through scrum and agile methodologies to deliver innovative features for global markets.
  • Coordinate the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and enhancement of the Workday Learning product to ensure superior quality.
  • Collaborate extensively with Development, Product, QA, Automation, Research/UX, Agility, Doc-writing, and Customer Support teams to proactively address and resolve customer issues creatively and efficiently.
  • Mentor and develop team members, supporting both their professional growth and personal development.
  • Embody and promote Workday's core values: Employees, Customer Service, Innovation, Integrity, Fun, and Profitability.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience leading full stack software engineering teams in an Agile environment with CI/CD and test automation
  • 8+ years of experience developing applications using Cloud-based technologies
  • 8+ years of experience with design and development using an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C#, C++, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent work experience
  • US citizenship and reside in the US.

  • Technical project management, with a focus on leading the development teams through scrum and agile methodologies to deliver innovative features for global markets.

  • The ability to communicate technical complexity in simple terms to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Technical presentations that effectively convey complex information.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills needed to positively influence important issues or decisions in a multi-functional environment.
  • Strong influencing skills to drive discussions and decisions.
  • You see software development as a team sport and thrive in a highly collaborative and agile culture where you’re always guiding and learning.
  • Proven people management experience, fostering high-quality enterprise application development.

  • Strong Decision Making capabilities, especially when coordinating the analysis, design, programming, debugging, and enhancement of products to ensure superior quality.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Requirements solicitation, and experience in the full SDLC for a SaaS product, from requirements to development, test, deployment, and support.
  • Ability to collaborate extensively with Development, Product, QA, Automation, Research/UX, Agility, Doc-writing, and Customer Support teams to proactively address and resolve customer issues creatively and efficiently.
  • Interest in Agentic AI development.
  • Experience working with Federal customers.

Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $145,900 USD - $259,200 USD
