The Systems Engineer 2 will be responsible for the planning and engineering of an organization’s systems infrastructure which includes the implementation and design of hardware and software. Monitors the performance of systems and is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures. Performs detailed analysis of problems, performance, and capacity for critical systems and develop appropriate corrective or proactive actions. Acts as a front-line interface to users, accepting trouble reports and dispatching them to appropriate system administrators. Develops and tests changes in non-production environments. Documents system processes and procedures. Participates in both formal and informal System Engineer training opportunities. Provides IT customer support and resolving technical issues using service monitoring tools, managing incident tickets from servers, and installing, supporting, and configuring systems or applications. Monitors, manages, troubleshoots and performs issue resolution for systems and services hosted on cloud resources. Responsible for Linux and Unix build automation and configuration management tools. Writes documentation and records knowledge of systems. Uses the following tools and technologies: Microsoft Azure Virtualisation services; Virtual Machines and Docker; Linux System Administration namely Bash scripting, rsync, iptables, Strace, CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu and Windows OS; Ansible, Jenkins, Zabbix, GitHub, PagerDuty, and Dynatrace; DNS, TCP, UDP, Firewalls, Switching, Routing, Ethernet switching, Load Balancing, TCP/IP Protocols, traceroutes, pings, LAN and WAN, BGP, OSPF, and OSI Model.
This position requires the minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field and 2 years (24 months) related experience OR a Master’s degree or equivalent in the same fields. Must also have experience with each of the following: (1) Microsoft Azure Virtualisation services; Virtual Machines and Docker; Linux System Administration namely Bash scripting, rsync, iptables, Strace, CentOS, RedHat, Ubuntu and Windows OS; Ansible, Jenkins, Zabbix, GitHub, PagerDuty, and Dynatrace; DNS, TCP, UDP, Firewalls, Switching, Routing, Ethernet switching, Load Balancing, TCP/IP Protocols, traceroutes, pings, LAN and WAN, BGP, OSPF, and OSI Model. (2) Providing IT customer support and resolving technical issues using service monitoring tools, managing incident tickets from servers, and installing, supporting, and configuring systems or applications. (3) Monitoring, management, troubleshooting and issue resolution for systems and services hosted on cloud resources. (4) Linux and Unix build automation and configuration management tools. (5) Writing documentation and recording knowledge of systems. Will accept experience gained before, during or after Master’s program. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.
