Job Title: 2nd Shift Welder

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled 2nd Shift Mig/Tig Welder with experience in aerospace, military, or prototype facilities. The ideal candidate will have over 6 years of experience, with a strong emphasis on Tig welding. Initially, you will start on the 1st shift to complete AWS training with a Certified Welding Inspector before transitioning to the 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Mig and Tig welding on aluminum and steel aerospace components, including Invar and Aluminum, completing vertical ups.
  • Execute Mig welding on steel with flat welds.
  • Interpret blueprints to determine weld thickness and pattern requirements.
  • Prepare materials using 4'' and 7'' grinders.
  • Work on varying sizes of tools, from extremely large to very small.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in aerospace or military settings.
  • Over 6 years of experience in Mig/Tig welding, with a preference for Tig welding.
  • Proficiency in fabrication and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with steel, aluminum, Invar, and thick tubing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in tool building or fitting.
  • AWS certifications are preferred.
  • Graduation from a welding school is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with Invar welding (36% nickel and 64% steel).

Work Environment

Work in a newer, spacious facility with dedicated areas for each group of workers. The environment is generally clean and well-ventilated, although it can be warmer in the summer. The facility operates on the 2nd shift from Monday to Friday, 4:30 PM to 3:00 AM, with mandatory 8-hour shifts on Saturdays and optional Sundays. Enjoy a structured yet relaxed atmosphere with well-defined processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chesterfield, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $35.00/hr.
