Job Title: Lab Manager/Administrator – APAC Region

Location: Taiwan

Geographical Responsibility: Thailand, Vietnam, China, Malaysia

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Lab Manager/Administrator (Machine Learning Lab) to manage and support lab operations, equipment maintenance, and vendor relationships across the APAC region. This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise, project coordination, and remote support. The ideal candidate will be proactive, autonomous, and able to work across multiple teams to ensure the efficient operation of laboratory spaces and systems.

• This is a facilities management / stakeholder management role, and not an engineering role.
• Fluent English and Mandarin will be required for the role, as well as ability to travel to other lab sites in APAC (not exceeding 20% of the year).

Key Responsibilities:

Lab Operations & Coordination:

• Host and facilitate lab-related tasks, including equipment installation, lab modifications, and space planning.
• Collaborate with lab coordinators and stakeholders to assess lab needs, plan, organize, and execute lab-related projects.
• Manage tasks and coordinate projects related to new lab spaces, equipment, and modifications, ensuring alignment with lab requirements and safety standards.
• Support lab stakeholders in maintaining physical lab space, equipment, and ensuring all areas meet operational and safety standards.
• Review, organize, and manage lab equipment lifecycle, ensuring proper asset management, including calibration, maintenance, and certifications.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management:

• Manage relationships with third-party vendors to ensure timely delivery of maintenance, calibration, and support services.
• Oversee and evaluate vendor performance, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Serve as a key liaison between internal teams, remote labs, and external service providers to ensure seamless coordination of lab needs.
• Provide technical advice, training, and remote troubleshooting to lab personnel across the APAC region.

Maintenance & Technical Support:

• Conduct routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab equipment across multiple sites.
• Assess and resolve technical issues that may impact the functionality and performance of lab systems.
• Ensure all equipment and systems meet internal and external standards, including safety and operational protocols.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, calibration, and repair activities, ensuring compliance with company procedures and regulations.
• Generate reports on lab performance, vendor service outcomes, and system conditions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that processes and procedures are documented and maintained efficiently.

Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated with advancements in lab technology and processes, suggesting improvements to enhance lab operations and equipment performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices for lab management and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Experience:

• 3+ years of experience in laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, or supporting high-tech environments.
• Proven experience in managing remote vendor relationships and troubleshooting lab equipment.
• Familiarity with lab asset management systems and maintenance scheduling.

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong technical troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex issues independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, remote lab personnel, and vendors.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
• Experience in evaluating and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and operational standards.

Additional Skills:

• Experience in Reinforcement Learning (RL) labs or similar high-tech environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with laboratory management software and tools is an advantage.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in additional APAC languages is a plus.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required to RL lab sites across the APAC region.
