Rate is set in accordance with the City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule for hourly assignments. Currently the rate upon entry is from $96.15 to $119.00 per hour depending upon placement.

Position Description

This position requires extensive clinical skills in health assessment, diagnosis, treatment, counseling, and referral. Within an established scope of practice, the nurse practitioner delivers: episodic and urgent health care; sexual and reproductive health; health screenings and physical exams; and health promotion with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare providers.

Job Duties

1. Shall perform nurse practitioner level clinical assessments, and treatment of common acute illnesses, including first aid and urgent care.

2. Shall provide complete GYN services including: pelvic exams; STI testing, evaluation and treatment; pregnancy testing; STI/HIV prevention and family planning counseling.

3. Shall provide first aid and initiate appropriate interventions in emergency situations.

4. Shall participate in the ongoing planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive program for a licensed student health center, including current standard of practice in medicine, nursing, staff management, licensed lab and hazardous waste management, insurance/Medi-Cal billing; Family PACT.

5. Shall plan for and implement clinical and health education programs.

6. Has working knowledge in Continuing Quality Improvement in the ambulatory healthcare setting.

7. Shall teach health related topics on an individual and group basis.

8. Seeks out grant opportunities, applies for, and manages health care grants.

9. Shall coordinate protocols, screenings and follow-up of communicable diseases including TB, STI, and emerging infectious diseases.

10. Shall contribute to efficient clinic operation such as committee work, faculty evaluations, curriculum and program development, clinical consultation, and in-service training for staff and faculty.

11. Shall participate in departmental functions such as committee work, staff meetings, curriculum development, projects, student learning outcomes and student service outcomes (SLOs and SSOs), and work groups, as well as serve on college-wide committees, such as Shared Governance committees.

12. Shall support the mission of the college as a part of a team in a college setting.

13. Shall work with students, staff, faculty, and administrators from diverse backgrounds; cultural, social, economic, and sexual orientation.

14. Must be available to work in-person day and evening schedules for programs and services as needed.

15. Supports and engages in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti-racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.

16. Participates in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism to center pedagogy.

17. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

2. Earned Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;

OR

Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; AND earned Master’s Degree in Health Education, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Health Care Administration; Public Health, or Community Health from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;

OR

Hold a fully-satisfied LIFE California Community College Health Services-Nurse Credential (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990)

3. Possess or be eligible for a current California Public Health Nurse Certificate.

4. Possess a current California Registered Nurse License.

5. Possess a current California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing License/Certificate.

6. Possess a current CPR certification.

Desirable Qualifications

1. One year or equivalent paid and successful nurse practitioner work experience (>1000 hours/year).

2. Two years or equivalent paid and successful work experience in a community health agency or college or university; preferable in the last five (5) years.

3. Demonstrated ability to perform pelvic exams and to provide all available contraceptive options.

4. FamilyPACT provider.

5. Demonstrated knowledge of health problems and concerns of diverse adolescent and adult populations.

6. Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze health center data for program planning.

7. At least one year of paid and successful work experience in coordinating or managing a clinical service.

8. Evidence of ability to provide health care in English as well as one or more of the languages most likely spoken by CCSF students such as Spanish, Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Filipino, etc.

9. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of inequities in higher education and a commitment to rectifying policies and processes that restrict access for historically minoritized and disproportionately impacted students.
