ABOUT THE MUSEUM:
Marietta House Museum was the tobacco plantation of U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Gabriel Duvall in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The two-and-half-story Federal-style brick mansion, completed in 1813, stood in front of a row of outbuildings where multiple generations of enslaved individuals lived. This site witnessed the enslavement of Africans and African Americans until Emancipation in 1865. Today, Marietta House is situated on 25 acres of lawn and wooded areas.
Marietta House Museum is dedicated to exploring, elevating, and transforming awareness of the interconnected relationships of the people and their descendants who lived and labored at Marietta. As a public history steward, Marietta is committed to co-curating discussions, exhibitions, and programs with broad community input to promote universal social equity. Marietta interprets the historical architecture and landscape across Prince George's County, Maryland, through inclusive American history.
DESCRIPTION:
Marietta House Museum is seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual to fill the part-time Museum Educator position. The position reports to the historic house director. This front-facing position will manage the school field trip program, the museum entrance admissions area, lead tours, and educational out-reach programs. The Museum Educator is responsible for providing a welcoming and engaging experience for visitors.
Our Strategic Pillars:
At least one year experience working in museums. Interest in African American history or specific education and training in skill area which is equal to the experience level requirement; ability to demonstrate and perform in skill area.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree in history, museum studies, African American history, African American studies, American studies, women studies, public history, or related field AND 2 or more years of relevant experience; OR 6 years of combined education and experience.
May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

The following information is a summary of benefits extended to all Seasonal employees of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). This is for informational purposes only and is subject to change.
Limited Benefits for Seasonal Employees
Health Insurance Plans
You are eligible for specific health insurance benefits if you worked, on average, 30 hours per week during your first 12 months of employment or from October 3rd to October 2nd each subsequent period following your first 12 months of employment. This equates to 1,560 hours over a 12-month period.
If and when you are eligible for benefits, you will receive notification directly from the Health & Benefits Office.
Eligible Employees Pay 35% of the health insurance plan premium and The Commission Pays 65%.
