Automation Data Engineer

The Automation Data Engineer at Ensign Services, Inc. is responsible for designing, architecting, implementing, and maintaining data solutions that support process automation within the organization. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to drive business efficiencies, eliminate manual processes, and lead complex data projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for data and a commitment to continuous improvement, working closely with a team to create a seamless IT environment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, business analysts, and subject matter experts to design, architect, and support the data needs of the automation team.
  • Provide technical input for the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of standard and complex data needs using best practices and industry standards.
  • Interpret data models and extract meaningful insights from data within various source systems.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support of deployed data projects.
  • Develop, manage and track project deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Measure outcomes, gather user feedback, and make program improvements.
  • Recognize system deficiencies and implement effective solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest features, upgrades, and industry trends to ensure continuous improvement of data utilized in automation solutions.
  • Ensure internal controls systems are accurately documented and working effectively.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, and maintaining data environments in a large enterprise.
  • Experience in python programming, spark SQL, and data lake design.
  • Hands-on experience in AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, Step Function, Athena, Cloud Watch, DynamoDB and more)
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing them for performance.
  • Experience with ETL processes using SSIS, Airflow, or relevant job orchestration.
  • Experience in visualization techniques (Quicksight, Power BI)
  • Strong understanding of automation tools and frameworks for data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and experience with data warehouse technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic understanding of Javascript and some experience supporting data needs for workflow tools.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Experience in project lifecycle, including requirements gathering and development of implementation strategies.
  • Experience in platforms such as Workday Studio, Appian or similar tools.

Additional Information

The Anticipated Base Salary Range: $140,000 - $165,000, eligible for bonus

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt Employee

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life & AD&D Insurance Plans, 401(k) with matching contribution, vacation, sick and holiday pay
