By joining our Division of Facilities Management as a Locksmith Administrator in Franklin County, along with travel to all 44 state parks. You’ll have the opportunity to serve as a project manager for Locksmith, maintenance, and operations.

Holders of the Locksmith Administrator position will complete tasks such as:

  • Install, repair, and maintain various types of locks, including mechanical, electronic, and combination locks.
  • Cut new or duplicate keys using key-cutting machines and tools.
  • Assess and identify security vulnerabilities in locks and security systems and provide suitable recommendations for improvements.
  • Respond to emergency lockout situations and provide timely assistance to individuals who are locked out of parks properties.
  • Create and maintain records of all key systems and security measures implemented for easy reference and future maintenance. Becomes proficient in the operations of Keystone management systems.
  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in lock technology and security systems to provide the most effective and efficient services.
  • Install and repair safes and vaults, ensuring their proper functioning and security.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Inspect the work of contractors and employees.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ethical conduct and integrity to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of locksmith duties.
  • Will be required to use hand tools and lift items more than 20 pounds.

Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program in locksmithing is preferred.
  • Valid locksmith license or certification, depending on local regulations and requirements.
  • Previous experience in locksmithing or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to locksmithing and security systems.
  • Proficiency in using locksmithing tools and equipment.

Work will involve some bending, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing. Exposure to unpleasant working conditions. Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in the installation and repair of locks.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional experience in the installation and repair of locks will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
