Overview
The Intermodal Operations Coordinator is the primary point of contact between NFI and its valued Intermodal customers. In this role, you will monitor shipment performance, communicate pro-actively and provide outstanding responsiveness to NFI’s customer base. This role reports to the Director of Intermodal Operations at our Mississauga, Ontario location.
Responsibilities
- Exceed the expectations of NFI’s customers through effectively managing relationships;
- Respond to telephone calls and emails from both internal and external clients;
- Collaborate pro-actively with customers, vendors, drayage agents, and internal personnel in order to:
- Track NFI Intermodal shipments;
- Actively manage exceptions directly with NFI vendors;
- Assemble root-cause analysis of systemic issues and escalate to NFI’s leadership team;
- Notify customers of delays to their shipments, and provide en- route problem resolution and troubleshooting;
- Provide tracing reports, on-time reports and other KPI’s to customers as required;
- Ensure supporting documentation such as: POD’s, BOL’s, Images, OS&D forms etc. are provided to NFI by its vendors.
- Keep all profiles and load notes (customer, vendor, etc.) up to date;
- Schedule pickup and delivery appointments;
- Reflect a positive attitude in all interactions with customers, vendors, drayage agents and peers;
- Foster relationships with NFI’s customers to facilitate further growth;
- Input updates into NFI’s operational system(s) to ensure that invoices and all supporting documentation is sent to NFI’s customers in a timely manner;

Qualifications
- High School Diploma, General Equivalency Diploma, or equivalent experience and training.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the transportation industry;
- Ideally, with a specific focus on temp-controlled TL, LTL, and Intermodal transportation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Proficient in using MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook);
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment which requires the use of multiple applications;
- The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of multiple rail routings and equipment offerings;
- Verbal and written bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
