Director of Business Development (Services)

The Director of Business Development for Safety Management Systems will develop, oversee, and manage the operations of specialty services (H2S, HSE Consulting, Security, and Training). Responsibilities will include but not limited to: develops short and long term operational and business development plans for SMS Service Operations to continuously grow and improve and assures consistent adherence and evaluation of ongoing performance, ensures SMS Service operations are conducted in accordance with applicable company and customer regulations and policies, and establishes operations priorities to meet or exceed customer expectations, meet goals identified and maximize employee contribution and development.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs the operations of SMS Services (Training, H2S, HSE Consulting, and Security).
  • Develops short and long term operational and business development plans for SMS Service Operations to continuously grow and improve and assure consistent adherence and evaluation of ongoing performance.
  • Collaborates with sales, marketing operations, and other departments to determine competitiveness of new services and/or business.
  • Analyze competitive offerings to identify differentiators and set pricing.
  • Establishes operations priorities to meet or exceed customer expectations, meet goals identified and maximize employee contribution and development.
  • Trains, develops, motivates, monitors and leads a team of people to achieve established SMS goals and objectives. This position must develop talent and leaders for growth within the company.
  • Leads, implements and promotes a culture of respect, integrity and accountability
  • Ensures and verifies that SMS Service operations are conducted in accordance with applicable company and customer regulations and policies.
  • Establishes operational, personnel, and performance standards.
  • Helps identify various customer relation approaches that are working and educates the division so others can take advantage of the approach.
  • Assists sales and operations with RFP and MSA process.
  • Responsible for the achievement of operations improvements, goals and financial objectives. Insure that evaluation systems are in place that relate to these goals and objectives and reports progress to the SMS Executive Committee.
  • Plans and develops processes and procedure to improve operating costs and efficiencies
  • Ensures professional and respectful interactions with customers, peers, and coworkers.
  • Meets with customer(s) leadership to ensure services provided by SMS are satisfactory and resolves any customer grievances.
  • Monitors revenue, expenses, payroll, and other budgetary items, report, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Communicates focus on divisional Opportunities, Goals, Strategies, Measurements (OGSM) to ensure that division is on track with vision.
  • Assists with other duties, responsibilities, and requirements that may be deemed necessary to ensure the future success of SMS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelors Degree required (preferably Business or Industrial); Masters Degree a plus
  • 10+ years Management experience required
  • Strong Business Acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior management, teams and individuals across multiple cultures, disciplines and geographies
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions
  • Strong problem solving skills; the ability to ask the right questions, help frame logical conclusions and arrive at effective solution.
  • Demonstrates relentless drive and determination to achieve success
  • Excellent supervisory and management skills and an ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present briefings to the SMS Executive Committee and Customers
  • Must have computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and other Microsoft Office applications
