Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Work Assistant (Lab Glassware Technician) within the Rutgers Cancer Institute-Central Lab Services Department.

The Work Assistant (Laboratory Glassware Technician) is responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, and proper handling of laboratory glassware and equipment to support daily research and lab operations. This role ensures all materials are decontaminated, prepared, and readily available for scientific use, adhering to strict laboratory hygiene and safety standards. The Work Assistant (Laboratory Glassware Technician) also monitors inventory levels of cleaning supplies and works collaboratively with lab staff to maintain an organized and compliant work environment.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

• Cleans and sterilizes laboratory glassware using manual and automated methods (e.g., dishwashers, autoclaves).
• Inspects glassware for chips, cracks, or contamination and discard or report damaged items.
• Handles hazardous materials and chemical residues according to safety protocols.
• Organizes, stores, and distributes clean glassware to appropriate lab areas.
• Maintains cleaning logs and inventory records of glassware and cleaning supplies.
• Follows standard operating procedures (SOPs) and lab safety guidelines. 7. Assists with restocking laboratory supplies as needed.
• Disposes of waste materials in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Communicates with laboratory staff regarding specific cleaning needs or concerns.

Minimum Salary 15.49

Mid Range Salary 75.00

Maximum Salary 150.00

• Prior experience in a laboratory or similar environment preferred.
