WHAT YOU WILL DO:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AV Technician Tier 3 with a strong focus on event support to join our team based at a leading tech company. This individual will play a key role in delivering high-quality AV services for physical, hybrid, and digital events. Acting as both a technical leader and hands-on operator, the technician will be responsible for end-to-end support of mid- to high-profile events, including setup, operation, and post-event processes.
This role requires deep familiarity with professional AV/broadcast systems, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively depending on event scale. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to event readiness, technical troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration, while maintaining excellent communication with stakeholders at all levels.
The role is primarily based in the Bay Area and may involve working outside of standard business hours on occasion in support of rehearsals, live events, and teardown.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform ready-for-business checks on all AV systems, and daily preventative maintenance measures to ensure optimal operation of event related equipment.
- Provide full event production support either independently or as part of a team, depending on the scale of the event. This includes Physical/Hybrid/Digital Events.
- Be an audio-visual system expert and provide technical support for mid to high profile events, Town Hall or All Hands events. Scope includes gathering user requirements, setup, operating and managing the AV system for these events.
- Support end user, maintain and manage AV in Training Rooms, All Hands Area, Digital Event Production Studio, Production event spaces. Ensure functionality and foster collaboration with partner support teams and users.
- Traffic management to strategically help determine priorities, workload, internal studio and event timelines, resource availability and risks.
- Work within a ticketing system, interacting with teams and end users in a professional manner.
- Operate built in Pro AV / Broadcast System including broadcast cameras, lighting, backdrop, microphones, video & audio mixer, recording & streaming devices, and video conference system.
- Monitor live shot activities. Ensure proper audio / video levels, camera framing, and necessary communications.
- Establish and maintain a prominent and proactive control room presence to best ensure smooth and orderly control rooms technical operations, processes while increasing efficiency and automation.
- Effectively communicate and act as an escalation point for the various technical and non-technical stakeholders: event planners / managers / producers, content creators, vendors, internal Comms, and other internal teams.
- Provide feedback to team leadership on event production equipment and software usage, efficiency, general updates and event debrief.
- Basic editing of video footage or content to provide clients.
- Contribute and abide by SOP documents, completing detailed reporting as well as utilizing the ticketing system.
- Own the technical support lifecycle and be responsible for managing technical risks throughout support planning and delivery.
- Consistently deliver high-quality services to clients.
- Facilitate team and client meetings effectively.
- Manage physical inventory for dedicated spaces.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- 5+ years of experience in the audio visual and events industry with hands-on experience, including installing, configuring and programming audio visual spaces and studio production environments.
- Knowledge of the event production industry including audio visual, physical/hybrid/digital events, lighting and IT services.
- Extensive experience operating various event production platforms, ensuring the latest in Virtual Event delivery industry standards are upheld.
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are a must.
- Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
- Ability to prioritize while adhering to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to occasionally work outside of traditional office hours for setup, teardown and rehearsal needs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently with varying levels of complexity.
- Understands the benefits of the various event formats (i.e. Q&A, Training, Town Hall, Broadcast, etc…), as well as how to execute these formats flawlessly
- Capable of reading and understanding AV system diagrams.
- Understanding of video streaming, video production, and other audio-visual technology.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently and without direct supervision.
- Proficiency with AV / studio hardware, studio software, and multi-platform computer systems (MAC/PC).
- Ability to operate and maintain Digital Event Production Control room.
- Experience operating and maintaining event production and broadcast systems. (broadcast cameras, lighting, backdrop, microphones, video & audio mixer, PTZ cameras and controllers, recording & streaming devices, and video conference systems)
- Accredited Audio-visual qualifications from Pro AV or Broadcast industry. (Crestron, Q-Sys, Dante, Biamp, Black Magic, Ross, Grass Valley, Yamaha, Shure, etc).
- AVIXA Essentials of AV Technology, Project Management for AV & CTS is a bonus.
- Video conferencing systems (Meets, Teams, Zoom, Cisco, etc)
- Knowledge of Digital event production platforms (Notified, Vimeo, Streamyard, Kaltura, V-Mix, Wirecast, etc.)
- Proficient in the technical delivery of high-quality events.
