VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF TEACHING – FINANCE 2025 SEARCH
Position
The Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate in the Fogelman College of Business & Economics at the University of Memphis is seeking qualified applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Teaching non-tenure track position, with teaching duties beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. Hiring is contingent on final budget approval. The Visiting Assistant Professor of Teaching will teach primarily at the Memphis Campus, including online though teaching at off-campus sites may be required.
Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include effectively teaching graduate and primarily undergraduate finance courses, significant service leadership on important departmental operations related to the Cook Analytics & Trading Lab. Instructional duties include effective instruction in undergraduate finance courses that may also be cross listed at the Master’s level; evaluating student learning outcomes; participating in related department activities; and complying with all Department, College, and University regulations. The Visiting Assistant Professor of Teaching position will also be responsible for teaching courses that lead to financial certifications and licensing (CFP/CFA). Job duties include:
1. Teaching eight (8) finance courses for the academic year and ensuring high rates of success in student learning outcomes.
2. Maintenance of AACSB scholarly academic status.
3. Assisting with Cook Analytics & Trading Lab operations including lab scheduling, dataset maintenance, tech support liaison for hardware and software issues as well as support to improve the lab’s worldwide web visibility through department resources.
4. Assisting with recruitment of students and student leaders for clubs and teams along with supporting students in finance competitions, the CFP Board educational program, inter-university student competitions, Finance Club, and other university activities. Maintaining contact with the CFA Society, the FPA Society along with maintaining AACSB scholarly academic credentials.
5. Service on Department and College Committees.

The academic programs of the College are fully accredited by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The College’s full-time faculty of 96 serves approximately 3,100 students, with nearly 2,500 undergraduates, 550 master’s students, and 50 doctoral students. The Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate includes 12 full-time faculty members in addition to this position. A Ph.D. or ABD in finance is required. Research and professional engagement activities sufficient to qualify as Scholarly Academic under existing AACSB business accreditation guidelines are strongly desired.
